The Story
Primacy S3
Amplifier Design
All Primacy amplifier channels use proprietary Class D designs optimized to the specific loudspeaker drivers assigned to them.
The volume control at the end of the audio chain sets relative channel gains and offers a balanced, internal full-scale signal path.
Proprietary software continuously monitors and analyzes output voltage and current for real-time diagnostics, ensuring driver protection and detecting impedance changes.
Amplifier output stages employ DirectFET™ surface-mount technology for clean switching and reduced EMI with shorter power paths.
A Zobel filter improves transients and reduces load effects on the amplifier to further optimize the interaction between the amplifier and speakers.
1" (26 MM) Carbon Fiber Tweeter
This tweeter features a light, rigid and well-damped thin-ply carbon fiber diaphragm.
A two-layer voice coil is wound onto a titanium former and operates within a symmetrical drive motor structure with flux stabilization.
A nonresonant aluminum chamber encloses the rear of the tweeter, providing a consistent and predictable enclosure.
Enclosure Design
Enclosure: The enclosure features a sand-cast aluminum-alloy inner core with secondary machining to ±1/1,000" tolerance (±0.025 mm) and includes all bracing, mechanical features and tuning ports.
Baffle: Extruded aluminum with a thickness of 0.9" (23 mm) at its center with a narrow design and gentle contour transitioning to the loudspeakers are an important part of acoustical design, enhancing even dispersion in the mid- and upper-frequency ranges. Secondary machining of the baffle’s front surface facilitates smooth dispersion of the tweeter’s output.
Cosmetic Panels: Furniture-grade side panels are compression molded from a glass fiber reinforced polymer to produce a durable and environmentally stable component with a smooth surface. These panels are available in various finishes, including solid colors and real wood veneers, and can also be custom painted or wrapped.
5.5" (140 MM) Polypropylene Midrange
S3: This is used as a woofer/midrange for 37 Hz–3 kHz.
Cone/Dust Cap: A lightweight mineral-filled polypropylene cone and dust cap were selected for the woofer material. To enhance rigidity and frequency response, the geometry of the cone was addressed, arriving at a single radius with a single step and a lightweight support structure attached to the back of the cone.
Surround: A synthetic rubber surround structure is employed, with integral sealing and isolation elements molded into the surround.
Spider: A Nomex/poly/cotton progressive roll spider with integrally woven lead wires forms the rear suspension.
Voice Coil: A two-layer bifilar copper voice coil is wound onto a polyimide (Kapton®) former with a spun lace wrap.
Motor: The magnet is a strontium-ferrite single stack ring.

Primacy Audio Systems
Primacy Centerpiece Compatible
Enhance your system with the optional Primacy CS Centerpiece, which allows for control of digital, analog, and streaming sources as well as Primacy Automatic Room Optimization (P.A.R.O.).
Connections and Streaming
The optional CS Centerpiece connects to your compatible loudspeakers via Dante® networking, preserving a high-resolution digital signal flow. You can also connect to your compatible smartphone or computer via Ethernet, Wi-Fi® connectivity or Bluetooth® technology, and stream audio from your favorite online sources.
User Profiles
Fine-tune your audio experience based on your room’s acoustics, seating position and frequency response preferences.
Room Optimization
When paired with your Primacy loudspeakers, you’ll get P.A.R.O., which measures and optimizes the entire system — as well as any additional powered subwoofers — for your room and listening position.
Active Design
Individual amplifier channels are connected to each driver section. This allows for optimal control and damping over each moving diaphragm.
Built-In Amplifiers
Each loudspeaker features multiple built-in amplifiers — one for each driver section — employing our most advanced switching technology. DSP filtering occurs at the input of each of the active amplifier channels.
Alloy Casting
The enclosure starts with a one-piece alloy casting, which includes many internal features, such as the bracing and ports for the woofer section.
High-Performance Triple-Core DSP
A digital signal processor, operating at 32-bit/192 kHz audio resolution, provides precise control over crossover filters, equalization, dynamics, delay, and phase.
Beautifully Built
Optional replaceable cosmetic panels are available in a variety of finishes to match a wide range of decors.
